나는 여러가지 감각이 동시에 느껴지는 ‘공감각’적 체험을 나의 작품에서 효과적으로 표현하고자 한다. 또한 일반적으로 언어상 ‘맛을 보다’의 보다(try)는 ‘시도하다’의 의미로 사용하지만, 나는 ‘보다(see)’ 를 시각적으로 ‘본다’의 뜻으로 표현하고 사용한다.

다양한 색과 모양, 달콤한 맛을 지니고 있는 사탕을 소재로 삼는다. 사탕에 열을 가하고 녹이고, 깨트려 원형을 변형시킨다. 또한 이렇게 변형시킨 사탕들을 이용하여 본인이 생각하는 현대의 다양한 풍경을 재구성하여 만들어낸다.

‘미각적 이미지’인 나의 작품을 통해 현대인의 갑갑한 현실에 대해 심리적 안정감과 마음의 여유를 가질 수 있도록 사고를 환기 시키고자 하며, 시각적 고정관념을 벗어나, 새로운 사고와 상상으로 호기심을 불러일으킨다.

I aim to effectively express the ‘synesthesia’ experience of feeling multiple senses simultaneously in my work. Also, in general, the word ‘try’ in ‘taste’ is used in the meaning of ‘try’, but I express and use ‘see’in the sense of ‘see’ visually.

The material is candy, which has various colors, shapes, and sweet tastes. Heat the candy, melt it, and break it to change its shape. Also, using these transformed candies, he reconstructs and creates various modern landscapes that he thinks of. 

Through my work, which is a ‘tasteful image,’ I aim to stimulate thinking so that modern people can have psychological stability and peace of mind about the stuffy reality, and break away from visual stereotypes and arouse curiosity through new thinking and imagination.
