Artist Lee Man-woo is a painter of nature. While living in Asan, South Chungcheong Province since childhood, I captured the four seasons unique to this place on canvas. I tried to compare the four seasons in a year to our appearance and connect the feelings of the seasons with life and capture them on canvas. It also expressed the richness of nature, the dreams and stories of villagers who seem to be hidden in the forest, and the images of people living in compliance with nature. “Every day when I get out of bed, as a habit, From my studio, I look at the mountain in front of me and the houses that are gently revealed as if buried in the forest. One pleasant fall day, Apsan, bathed in sunlight and colorfully dressed, approached me. It captures my soul.” Rather than simply depicting nature, the warmth of his hometown, which he views with his own affectionate gaze, is reflected in all of his works.
