21세기 우리의 삶이 조선시대와 다를바 없다.

임금·신분계급·문화문맹·정치탐관·가난·전쟁·당파싸움·

질병 뿐이겠는가. 사건만 터지면 물고 늘어지는 불독처

럼 사납기만 하다. 용서도 없고 나눔도 없다. 그래서 치

유 되지 않는채 살아가고 있다. 소소한 행복조차 소유할

수 없거나 누리는 것조차 죄송스럽다. 어느 누가 ‘내탓이

오’ 라고 고백하지 않는다. 작가로서 위로할 수 있는 것

이 넓지 못하다. 열대식물 알로카시아 뜻이 ‘잘 될거야’ ‘힘 내세요’ 의미에 기대어 메세지를 담아 작업하였다.

최근 뜻하지 않은 코로나 시대를 겪었다. 코로나로 이별

의 상처 입은 이웃들이 많다. ‘너의 잘못이 아니야’ 등을 토닥여 주고 싶다. 직선의 아름다움이 돋보이는 한글은 자음과 모음의 서체나 기호또는 부호적 간결함도 자유롭다. 한글의 선은 전통 민속 놀이인 윷놀이 방식으로 허공에 투척하여 흩어지거나 해체된 자음과 모음 이미지를 상상으로 캔버스에 올려 놓는다.윷놀이는 우리민족 내면에 뿌리 내린 ‘한’ 을 치료하는 백신이다.

몸을 움직인 투척놀이와 떼창 소리의 강강술래는 가슴속의 한을 소리와 놀이로 토해 내고 치유하는 국민 백신이다. 그래서 단순한 윷놀이가 아닌 위로와 회복의 의미가 있다. 신명난 놀이와 여백같은 풍류를 담은 해학적 접근이 우리다운 현대 회화라고 생각한다.

열대식물 알로카시아 잎이 토란 잎 같기도 하고 연 잎으로 혼동하시는 분들도 계시지만 식물의 의미는 상처받은 자연과 인간들에게 의미가 된다. 한글과 알로카시아를 우리다운 현대 회화적 언어로 재해석하고자 한다. 시대마다 사회나 국가를 바라보는 개념이 다르다. 누군가 용서하고 용서 받을수 있는 나눔은 민화 속에 오롯이 담겨 있는 조선의 정신을 간결하게 표현해 보고자 했다.

Our life in the 21st century is no different from that of the Joseon Dynasty.

Is it just wages, social class, cultural illiteracy,political speculation, poverty, war, factional strife,

and disease? He is as ferocious as a bulldog that bites every time an incident occurs. There is no

forgiveness and no sharing. So I am living without healing. I feel sorry for not being able to possess

or enjoy even the smallest happiness.

No one confesses, ‘It’s my fault.’ As a writer, there isn’t much I can offer to comfort you. I worked with a message based on the meaning of the tropical plant Alocasia, which means ‘you will be fine’ and ‘cheer up.’

We recently went through an unexpected Coronaera. There are many neighbors who have suffered

separation due to the coronavirus. I want to pat myself on the back and say, ‘It’s not your fault.’

Hangul, which stands out for its beauty of straight lines, is free in the conciseness of fonts, symbols,

and signs of consonants and vowels. The lines of Hangul are thrown into the air in the

manner of Yutnori, a traditional folk game, and images of scattered or disintegrated consonants

and vowels are placed on the canvas by imagination. Yutnori is a vaccine that cures the ‘han’ that has

taken root within our people.

Ganggangsullae,a game of throwing and singing along with body movements, is a national vaccine that lets out and heals the resentment in the heart through sound and play. So, it is not just a simple game of Yut, but has the meaning of comfort and recovery. I think that a humorous approach that incorporates exciting play and empty elegance is our unique modern painting.

The leaves of the tropical plant Alocasia look like taro leaves and some people confuse them with lotus leaves, but the meaning of the plant is for wounded nature and humans.We want to reinterpret Hangul and Alocasia in our own modern conversational language. The concept of looking at society or the country is different in each era. Sharing, which allows someone to forgive and be forgiven, was intended to concisely express the spirit of Joseon, which is fully contained in folk tales.
